Formed in 1972 by current Managing Director Daniel McBrearty, MAC Services Ltd has become one of the leading electrical contractors in central London.
Offering electrical installations, repair and maintenance, test and inspections, and Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), MAC Services Ltd provides support to both commercial and domestic clients with projects ranging from £60 to £500,000.
When the business was established over 38 years ago strong emphasis was placed on the company's values; reliability, professionalism and attention to detail were key elements forming the core of the company's ethos. Initially starting out as a sole trader, over the years Daniel McBrearty has expanded the business and now employs 25 dedicated staff members.
Daniel says, "Our reputation for excellence is based on our experience and technical capabilities and also on our continuing efforts to improve and develop our services." He also feels that it is because of this attitude that he recently won the BT Entrepeneur of the year.
Belonging to regulatory organisations such as the NICEIC, ECA, CHAS, Safe Contractor and EXOR the company has built a sterling portfolio of clients including British sculptor Anthony Gormley, the creator of Angel of the North. MAC Services Ltd worked alongside the famous artist to create Blind Light, an exhibition which was shown at the Hayward Gallery in London. A simple luminous glass room filled with a dense mist allowed viewers to observe people vanish as they entered the brightly lit room, slowly emerging as shadows as they came closer to the walls. For the guests inside the room they could lose themselves in the light mystic vapour where visibility was as little as two feet. Complete installation of the Blind Light exhibition was carried out by MAC Services who were proud to work on the project.
Not only artistic, the company also places high emphasis on their corporate responsibility and are committed to reducing their impact on the environment. All their vehicles run on LPG and they recycle all the lamps that they use according to the current WEEE legislations. MAC Services Ltd also run a 90% paperless office and each electrician is equipped with a PDA which not only means less paperwork but also allows them to communicate quickly and efficiently with the office when they are out on a job. Each vehicle is fitted with an internet tracking system which allows the company to respond quickly to emergency calls. They offer a 24/7, 365 days call out service which is open to both new and existing customers, commercial and domestic.
The innovative services and unique structure of the company has resulted in MAC Services customers giving them an 8 out of 10 score in a recent independent survey. The company is very proud of this and feels that it reflects their strong focus on customer service. They pride themselves on being easy to talk to, whether it is regarding a compliment or suggestion for improvement. Customers who took part in the survey also positively commented on the company's technical ability, reliability and integrity.
The company is keen to move with the times. Since Daniel started he has watched how the industry has changed and commented, "Electricians are far more qualified now and we ensure that they attend courses regularly to continue upgrading to the current regulations." He also pointed out the increase in Red Tape, obtaining licences and the amount of paperwork involved.
Future plans for the company are to continue providing both new and existing customers with their diverse electrical services, and to build the company into one of the top 10 electrical contractors in England. They also aim to be recognised as one of the best companies to work for in the prestigious Sunday Times List.
